Your adventure begins with a pick-up from Nairobi, followed by a scenic drive towards Mt. Kenya. The route circumvents the mountain via the eastern slopes, passing through the lush Kirinyaga landscape. Upon reaching Chogoria town, you will meet your trekking crew and enjoy a well-deserved lunch. During this time, the crew will check your equipment to ensure you are fully prepared for the trek ahead. After lunch, you drive past the forest clearance barrier to the Chogoria Park Gate, where the hike begins. The 9 km trek to Lake Ellis Camp takes you through verdant forest trails, culminating at the camp set on the banks of Lake Ellis, a 28-acre tarn at 3,500 meters above sea level. Dinner is served at the base of the lake, offering spectacular views of the waters and surrounding Mugi Hills.

Day 2

After an early breakfast, you begin the ascent towards Lake Michaelson. The route gradually deviates westwards to the roadhead before a six-hour climb through stunning moorlands. Along the way, you will witness the unique alpine vegetation and dramatic landscapes of Mt. Kenya. You will arrive at Lake Michaelson in the late afternoon, a 30-acre lake situated just below the 300-meter cliffs of The Temple. After settling in and enjoying lunch, you can choose to relax on the lake’s serene banks or take a short walk around the area to help acclimatize to the altitude. Dinner and overnight are spent at Lake Michaelson Camp.

Day 3

Day three is reserved for a shorter hike to allow your body to rest and acclimatize before the summit attempt. You ascend to Simba Tarn, also known as Upper Simba Lake, a small 0.5-acre tarn nestled at 4,600 meters. The surrounding alpine scenery is breathtaking, and the afternoon provides ample opportunity to relax, take photographs, and further acclimatize. Dinner is served at the camp, and you spend the night preparing for the summit climb the following day.

Day 4
Summit Day – Point Lenana (4985 m asl) and descend to Judmaier Camp

An early start around 5 a.m. begins with tea or coffee before setting out on the final push to the trekking summit, Point Lenana, at 4,985 meters. The climb is relatively gentle, taking approximately two hours. From the summit, you can enjoy panoramic views of the neighboring peaks Nelion and Batian, with the distant silhouette of Kilimanjaro visible on clear days. After celebrating and taking photographs, you descend to Shipton Camp for breakfast, and then continue to Judmaier camp (Old Moses Camp). Here, dinner is served, and you rest for the night after a fulfilling day of achievement.

Day 5
Transfer to Nairobi
Transfer to Nairobi
On the final day, after breakfast, you are picked up from camp or descend on foot through the lush rainforest. The 9 km trek leads to Sirimon Park Gate at 2,600 meters, where you meet your transport for the drive back to Nairobi. Arrival is in the afternoon, with drop-off at your hotel or the airport.
