Our safari begins with an early morning departure from Arusha to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, where you will descend 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera and a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its dense wildlife population. Enjoy a full-day game drive across the crater floor with excellent opportunities to spot the Big Five — lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and the endangered black rhino — along with large herds of wildebeest, zebras, hippos, hyenas, jackals, and abundant birdlife including flamingos at Lake Magadi. After a picnic lunch surrounded by breathtaking scenery, ascend the crater walls in the late afternoon and drive to Karatu for dinner and overnight at Eileen’s Tree Inn, a charming lodge set in peaceful garden surroundings.
