Day 1

Nairobi to Amboseli NP

Nairobi to Amboseli NP

Buckle up and welcome to this safari!

Your driver guide picks you up in Nairobi and you're off, rolling south past the Athi Kapiti plains toward Amboseli, the park with the best Kilimanjaro view in Africa, full stop.

You'll arrive by lunchtime, settle into camp, then head straight out for your first game drive while the light turns gold.

Expect elephant families wandering right past your vehicle, buffalo herds with egrets riding along for the show, giraffe stretched out against the horizon, and if the clouds cooperate, Kilimanjaro showing off its snowy cap just for you.

You'll feel that first jolt of "this is actually happening," the kind of excitement that doesn't fade even after the sun goes down.

Day 2

Amboseli NP

Amboseli NP

No travelling today, just wildlife.

Two full game drives, morning and afternoon, chasing the best light and the best sightings.

Amboseli is elephant country, some of the biggest tuskers left on the continent roam here, so bring extra memory cards.

Alongside the elephants you'll spot lion, spotted hyena, zebra, wildebeest, and hundreds of birds, from herons to hornbills, all set against Kilimanjaro's backdrop.

Expect to feel small in the best possible way, the kind of quiet awe that comes from watching a two ton elephant amble past your open sided vehicle like you're not even there.

Day 3

Lake Naivasha

Lake Naivasha

Time to swap dust for water.

After breakfast, you'll head north into the Rift Valley to Lake Naivasha, a proper breath of fresh air after two days on safari roads.

This afternoon is the fun part, a private boat glides you across the lake while hippos grunt and surface nearby, fish eagles dive for their catch, and giraffe and waterbuck graze right along the shore.

Pelicans and cormorants line the reeds too. You'll feel yourself exhale here, shoulders dropping, camera finally resting in your lap for a minute, just soaking it in.

You can opt for a walk in Crescent Island to spot more animals.

Day 4

Lake Nakuru

Lake Nakuru

Onward to Nakuru, one of the prettiest lakes in the Rift Valley and a serious rhino stronghold.

You'll roll in by afternoon and go straight into a game drive around the lake, keeping an eye out for both black and white rhino, which isn't guaranteed everywhere in Kenya, so this is a big one to tick off.

Add in flocks of flamingo turning the shoreline pink, Rothschild's giraffe, buffalo, waterbuck, and the odd leopard sighting for those who get lucky.

Spotting a rhino for the first time tends to bring out a genuine gasp, it's a different kind of thrill from anything else on the trip.

Dinner & overnight.

Day 5

Masai Mara

Masai Mara

This is the big drive of the trip, across the Rift Valley escarpment and into the Mara, the park everyone's seen on a documentary at some point.

You'll land in time for lunch, catch your breath, then head out for your first Mara game drive that same afternoon because honestly, why wait.

Golden grass stretching to the horizon, lion prides lounging in the shade, topi and Thomson's gazelle scattered across the plains, and depending on the month, wildebeest herds thundering by as part of the Great Migration.

It's hard to describe that first Mara sunset without sounding cliché, so we won't even try, you'll just have to feel it yourself.

Dinner & overnight.

Main Destination:
Masai Mara National Reserve
Best Time To Visit June to October (For general wildlife viewing) and August to October (For wildebeest migration)

Day 6

Masai Mara

Masai Mara

A full day in the Mara means a full proper game drive with your private guide tracking whatever's moving, lion, leopard, cheetah, elephant, plus the endless herds of wildebeest and zebra that make this reserve famous worldwide.

Hyena, jackal, and if you're really lucky, a hunt in progress, are all fair game here.

Want a bush breakfast set up in the middle of the plains, or a sundowner with a view while the sky turns orange?

Just say the word.

Expect a mix of adrenaline and disbelief, the kind of day where you keep whispering "did you see that" to whoever's next to you.

Day 7

Nairobi

Nairobi

After breakfast, it's back on the road, or a quick flight, your call, to Nairobi, where your safari wraps up.

You'll leave with a full camera roll, a slightly sunburnt nose, and a feeling that's part gratitude, part disbelief that it's already over, plus a mental note that you're already planning your next trip back.

Drive back to Nairobi for your international flight back home.
