Entebbe-Kibale Forest NP-Check in

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up in Entebbe and a scenic drive westward to Kibale Forest National Park. Enjoy beautiful countryside views of rolling hills, tea plantations, crater lakes, and traditional homesteads along the way. You will have stopovers for photography, stretching, and lunch in Fort Portal town, nestled at the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. Upon arrival at Kibale in the afternoon, check in at your lodge and relax amidst the lush tropical forest surroundings. Depending on time, you may take a short guided nature walk around the lodge area to spot birds and monkeys. Dinner and overnight stay at the lodge as you prepare for the exciting chimpanzee trekking experience the next day.

Morning chimp trekking-Bigodi swamp walk

After an early breakfast, transfer to the park headquarters of Kibale Forest National Park for a briefing before setting off into the rainforest for an exciting chimpanzee trekking experience. Guided by expert rangers, hike through lush vegetation in search of habituated chimpanzee families. Once located, spend a magical hour observing them feed, groom, and play in their natural habitat. The forest is also home to other primates, colorful butterflies, and diverse bird species.

In the afternoon, visit Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary for a guided swamp walk. This community-run sanctuary offers excellent birding opportunities and sightings of monkeys, including red colobus and L’Hoest’s monkeys, as well as rich cultural interaction with the local community. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Afterward, begin your scenic return journey to Entebbe, passing through tea plantations, crater lakes, and vibrant roadside markets. Stop for lunch en route and enjoy photo opportunities along the way. Arrive in Entebbe in the late afternoon or evening, marking the end of your memorable chimpanzee and nature trails adventure.
