Day 2
Tarangire National Park

After breakfast, you will meet our representative, who will provide an introduction and overview of your Tanzanian safari adventure. Then, you will set off for Tarangire National Park, which spans over 2,600 square kilometers (1,000 square miles) and ranks as Tanzania’s sixth-largest park. Tarangire is famous for its impressive elephant herds, iconic baobab trees, and elusive tree-climbing pythons. Following a delicious lunch at the lodge, enjoy your first afternoon game drive, immersing yourself in the wonders of African wildlife. In the evening, you will return to the lodge to relax and reflect on your exciting day.

After breakfast, you will journey through the Olduvai Gorge and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area en route to Serengeti National Park. Covering 14,763 square kilometers (5,700 square miles), the Serengeti is a breathtaking mosaic of rivers, forests, woodlands, grasslands, plains, and savannahs. Located in northern Tanzania and bordering Kenya’s Masai Mara, the park is home to incredible wildlife and unforgettable landscapes. Upon arrival, enjoy an afternoon game drive in the Central Serengeti, spotting iconic animals in their natural habitat.

Your afternoon continues with another thrilling game drive, allowing you to witness the incredible diversity of animals that call the Serengeti home. The park is world-famous for the annual migration, where thousands of wildebeest sweep across the grasslands in a breathtaking spectacle. Alongside the migrating herds, keep an eye out for predators like lions, leopards, and cheetahs, some of which roam the central plains year-round. In the evening, return for dinner and a restful overnight stay.

After breakfast, depart the Serengeti and journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Home to the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater, the world’s largest unbroken caldera and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this natural wonder is framed by cliffs rising 600 meters (2,000 feet) above the crater floor, which spans approximately 246 square kilometers (95 square miles). Within this unique ecosystem, vast herds of zebra and wildebeest roam alongside elephants, lions, and if fortune smiles upon you the rare and nearly extinct black rhino. In the evening, continue to your crater rim camp for dinner and an overnight stay, soaking in the spectacular views.

After an early breakfast at 5:50 AM, depart at 6:00 AM for a 6–7 hour game drive on the floor of Ngorongoro Crater. During your exploration, you may encounter the local communities who call this UNESCO World Heritage Site home, and enjoy a relaxing picnic lunch amidst stunning surroundings. The crater is renowned for excellent year-round wildlife viewing, thanks to its abundant grazing and permanent water sources, supporting a thriving population of animals. In the evening, return to Farm of Dreams Lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Lake Manyara in Tanzania is a stunning freshwater lake, attracting thousands of birds throughout the year. Along the shoreline, flamingoes create a dazzling pink spectacle, while other birdlife includes ostriches, egrets, herons, pelicans, and storks—truly a paradise for birdwatchers. This park is famous for its striking landscapes and diverse wildlife. Depending on our time, we will enjoy a full-day game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, exploring its beauty and wildlife. In the evening, we will return to Planet Lodge in Arusha for dinner and an overnight stay.
