Nairobi to Mt Kenya NP

Pick up from your hotel in Nairobi and drive 4 hours from Nairobi to Nanyuki for lunch, then proceed 1 hour to Sirimon Gate (2,440m). Trek 9-10km (3-4 hours, 860m ascent) through forest and heath to Judmaier (Old Moses) Camp at 3,300m for acclimatization, dinner, and overnight camping.

After breakfast, hike 14km (6-7 hours, 900m ascent) via Liki North Valley and Mackinder's Valley, crossing moorlands with panoramic peak views. Arrive Shipton's Camp (4,200m) for lunch. Rest and have dinner and an overnight stay to aid in acclimatization.

Enjoy a hearty healthy breakfast after which Trek 12km (4 hours, 600m ascent) through alpine desert to Mintos Camp (4,300m) all the while passing vivid scenery like Lake Ellis and Giant’s Billiards Table. Enjoy lunch while en route, then early sumptuous dinner. Partake of overnight camping over a campfire with other campers as you prepare for summit day.

Full hiking experience in Mt Kenya

Wake up predawn at 3am to start preparing for a 24km round trip hike (11-12 hours) to Point Lenana (4,985m) in order to be in time for sunrise views. Take a great descend to Shipton's for a healthy hearty breakfast together with other hikers. This is the same facility at which lunch will be served. After reaching the peak of the hike, descend back to your Lodge, Mt. Kenya Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
