Day 2

Game Drive in Akagera National Park

Game Drive in Akagera National Park

You will depart the hotel early morning for a scenic three hour drive to Akagera National Park, arriving in time for a morning game drive game drive. Spend approximately eight hours exploring the park from south to north, spotting a variety of wildlife including impalas, antelopes, zebras, giraffes, and primates such as blue monkeys, vervet monkeys, bush babies, and olive baboons. You will also encounter aquatic species like hippos and crocodiles, and have excellent chances to see the Big Five; buffaloes, rhinos, elephants, leopards, and lions. In the evening, exit the park and enjoy a three hour drive back to Kigali for an overnight stay.

You will depart the hotel early morning for a two-hour drive to Musanze at Kinigi, where the Volcanoes National Park office is located. At 7 a.m., following a detailed briefing, you will embark on golden monkey trekking with a park guide. This immersive activity lasts approximately four hours, allowing you to observe these endangered primates in their natural habitat before returning for lunch. In the afternoon, experience Rwanda’s rich culture at Iby’iwacu Cultural Village, where you can enjoy traditional African dances, participate in hands-on activities, experience village life, take part in interactive cultural demonstrations such as being a king for a day, and meet former poachers who now contribute to conservation efforts in Volcanoes National Park.
