After an early breakfast, you will transfer to the headquarters of Volcanoes National Park for a comprehensive pre-trek briefing by expert rangers. You will then set off on an exciting guided golden monkey trek through the park’s lush bamboo forests, home to these rare and lively primates. Spend time observing their playful behavior and photography moments in their natural habitat.

After the trek, return to your lodge for a well-deserved lunch before embarking on a scenic cross-border drive into Uganda, enjoying the breathtaking views of the Virunga ranges along the way. Begin your day with an early breakfast before transferring to the headquarters of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for a detailed gorilla trekking briefing. Accompanied by experienced rangers and trackers, you will venture into the dense rainforest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek may last between 2 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ movements, but the reward is extraordinary spending up to one unforgettable hour observing these gentle giants in their natural habitat.

After an early breakfast, you will depart the lush highlands near Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and set off on a scenic journey to the remote Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. This picturesque drive takes you through rolling hills, rural homesteads, and verdant tea plantations before gradually opening into expansive savannah plains dotted with acacia trees.

Ishasha is world-renowned for its rare tree-climbing lions, often spotted lounging in ancient fig trees an extraordinary sight unique to this region. Rise early for an exhilarating morning game drive across the wildlife-rich Kasenyi Plains in Queen Elizabeth National Park. This prime safari area is renowned for its large lion prides, as well as elephants, buffaloes, leopards, hyenas, and a variety of antelope species roaming the open savannah. The cool morning hours provide excellent chances to witness predators on the move and capture remarkable photographs in the soft golden light.

After the drive, return to your lodge for a late breakfast and leisure time to unwind. In the afternoon, head to the scenic Kazinga Channel for a memorable two-hour boat cruise. Linking Lake George and Lake Edward, the channel hosts one of Africa’s highest concentrations of hippos. Watch crocodiles bask along the banks, elephants and buffaloes gather at the shoreline, and countless bird species including kingfishers, pelicans, and African fish eagles thrive in this vibrant ecosystem.

In the afternoon, set out on a guided chimpanzee trekking adventure through Kibale’s dense tropical rainforest, home to more than 1,500 chimpanzees, often referred to as the “Primate Capital of the World.” Once you locate a habituated troop, spend an unforgettable hour observing these energetic and intelligent primates as they swing through the canopy, forage, and communicate in their natural habitat.

Keep an eye out for other fascinating forest dwellers, including red colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, black-and-white colobus, and a remarkable variety of bird species. After the trek, return to your lodge for dinner and a peaceful overnight stay surrounded by the sounds of the forest.

After breakfast, you will begin your return journey, traveling either to Entebbe or Kigali according to your departure arrangements. Enjoy a final scenic drive through the breathtaking landscapes of East Africa, passing rolling hills, lush tea plantations, vibrant rural towns, and bustling local markets that reflect the region’s rich culture and daily life.

You will stop en route for a relaxed lunch at a selected restaurant and take short breaks at panoramic viewpoints for memorable photos and optional souvenir shopping. As you continue your journey, take in the beauty of the countryside one last time.

By late afternoon or early evening, you will arrive in either Entebbe or Kigali, where you will be transferred to your hotel or airport for your onward flight bringing your remarkable 7-day adventure through Rwanda and Uganda to a memorable close.
