Axum - Drive to Debark

Your journey begins with a scenic drive from Axum to Debark, the gateway to the Simien Mountains. From here, your trek officially begins as you walk towards Sankaber campsite, which takes approximately 3–4 hours. Simien Mountain - Sankaber - Geech (3600m)

Today’s trek from Sankaber to Geech campsite takes approximately 5–6 hours and offers some of the most scenic landscapes in the Simien Mountains. The trail follows the escarpment edge, providing continuous panoramic views of the dramatic cliffs and valleys below. One of the highlights is passing the Jinbar Waterfall, where water plunges into a deep gorge, creating a spectacular sight. The route includes both gentle climbs and descents, allowing you to fully appreciate the diversity of the terrain. Wildlife sightings, including geladas and various bird species, are common along the way. As you approach Geech, the landscape opens into wide alpine meadows dotted with giant lobelia plants. Geech - Imet Gogo - Seha - Kedadit - Geech

This is a full day dedicated to exploring some of the most spectacular viewpoints in the Simien Mountains. Starting from Geech, you hike to Imet Gogo, one of the best vantage points in the park, offering breathtaking views over vast valleys and jagged peaks. The trail continues to Seha and Kedadit, each providing unique perspectives of the dramatic landscape. The day involves several ascents and descents but rewards you with unforgettable scenery and excellent photo opportunities. The high-altitude environment is characterized by afro-alpine vegetation and wide open spaces. Wildlife and birdlife can also be spotted throughout the hike. Geech - Chenneck (Trekking 15 km)

Today’s trek to Chenek campsite takes approximately 6–7 hours and brings you to higher altitudes, reaching around 3,600 meters. The trail passes through dramatic mountain terrain, with steep escarpments and expansive views. Chenek is one of the best areas in the park for wildlife sightings. With some luck, you may encounter the rare Walia ibex, an endemic species often seen on steep cliffs, as well as the elusive Ethiopian wolf. The landscape becomes more rugged and alpine as you ascend, offering a true sense of wilderness. The air is thinner at this altitude, so the pace is steady and gradual. Upon arrival at Chenek, enjoy the incredible mountain views and the unique atmosphere of this high-altitude campsite. Overnight camping at Chenek.

Chenneck - Mount buwahit (4430m) drive back to Gondar

Your final trek day begins early with a challenging but rewarding hike to Mount Bwahit, Ethiopia’s second-highest peak at 4,430 meters. The round-trip trek takes approximately 4–5 hours and involves a steep ascent, but the effort is well worth it. From the summit, you are rewarded with breathtaking panoramic views across the Simien Mountains, showcasing their dramatic peaks and valleys. After spending time at the top, you descend back to Chenek, where you prepare for departure. From here, you begin the drive to Gondar, marking the end of your trekking adventure.
