Morning and afternoon bat viewing

Morning: The Dawn Return
At first light, join your armed scout and professional guide to witness millions of straw-colored fruit bats returning to their roost. You'll likely head to a treetop hide like Fibwe, where you can watch the sky "rain" bats as they drop into the evergreen swamp forest. Afterward, begin your walking safari. The cooler hours are perfect for tracking elusive Sitatunga antelopes in the marshes or spotting rare birds like the Pel’s fishing owl while your guide decodes tracks and signs in the miombo woodland.
Afternoon: The Dusk Departure
Following a midday siesta, set out on a guided walk through the riverine forest. Your guide will highlight the unique flora that sustains the ecosystem. As the sun dips, find a strategic clearing or platform. The highlight is the dusk departure: a breathtaking spectacle where 10 million bats take flight at once, darkening the sky in a swirling cloud of wings. It is an immersive, sensory experience that defines the magic of Kasanka.
