Nairobi to Masai Mara

The expedition begins with a 7:30 AM departure from Nairobi. You will travel overland via the Great Rift Valley, a journey of approximately 5.5 to 6 hours. Arriving at your bush camp in the Talek area by midday allows for a hot lunch before your first immersion into the wild.

The afternoon is dedicated to an introductory game drive. Entering through the Talek Gate, you are immediately positioned in the heart of the reserve. This area is famous for its resident lion prides, such as the Topi Pride, and the dense riverine forests where leopards are frequently spotted at dusk. You will return to camp by 6:00 PM for dinner under the stars.

Full-Day Savannah Exploration

This is the core of your safari experience. After an early breakfast, you will depart with a packed picnic lunch to maximize your time in the field. A full-day drive allows you to reach the Mara River, the site of the dramatic wildebeest crossings during the migration season (July–October).

The Talek sector offers a diverse landscape of open savannah and marshland, ideal for spotting cheetahs on the hunt and large herds of elephants. By spending the entire day in the reserve, you can observe the transition of wildlife activity from the cool morning hours to the heat of the midday sun. You will return to the Talek bush camp in the late afternoon for your final night in the wilderness.

Maasai Culture and Return to Nairobi

After a relaxed breakfast at the camp, you will engage in a cultural visit(optional) to a local Maasai Boma (village) near Talek. This provides an authentic look at the semi-nomadic lifestyle of the Maasai people, their traditional dances, and their beadwork.

Following the cultural immersion, you will begin the overland journey back to Nairobi. You will stop for lunch en route, arriving back in the capital city by late afternoon (approximately 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM) for your onward arrangements.
