Day 1

Machame Gate to Machame Hut

After breakfast in Moshi, you will drive to Machame Gate (1,800m) for registration before beginning your climb. The trail leads through lush rainforest, filled with towering trees, streams, and vibrant wildlife, offering a scenic introduction to Mount Kilimanjaro’s lower slopes.

The hike to Machame Camp (3,000m) takes approximately 5–6 hours, with a picnic lunch along the way to refuel and enjoy the surroundings. By the afternoon, you reach camp, where the porters will have your tents set up, water prepared, and dinner ready.

Today covers 10.75 km of trail with an altitude gain of 1,200 meters, providing a challenging but rewarding start to your Kilimanjaro adventure. Dinner and an overnight stay at Machame Camp allow you to rest and acclimatize for the days ahead.

Day 2

Machame Hut to Shira 2 Camp

After breakfast, you continue your ascent on Mount Kilimanjaro, leaving behind the lush rainforest and entering the heath and moorland zone. This more open landscape offers expansive views, unique vegetation, and excellent opportunities for photography as you trek across the plateau.

The hike to Shira 2 Camp (3,850m) takes approximately 4–5 hours, with a picnic lunch along the way. The distance covered is about 5.3 km, with an altitude gain of 850 meters. The gradual climb allows for continued acclimatization, helping your body adjust to the increasing elevation.

At Shira 2 Camp, the porters will have your tents ready, and drinking and washing water will be prepared. Dinner is served at camp, and you settle in for an overnight stay under the crisp mountain air. This day combines moderate trekking with stunning scenery, providing both a visual and physical introduction to the higher slopes of Kilimanjaro.

Day 3

Shira Cave Camp to Baranco Wall To Barranco Camp

After an early breakfast, you will begin your hike toward Barranco Camp (3,940m), passing the impressive Lava Tower (4,600m) along the way. This section of the trek is designed to help with acclimatization, as you gain significant altitude before descending to camp.

The hike takes approximately 6–7 hours, covering about 10.75 km in total. From your starting point, you will ascend roughly 750 meters to reach Lava Tower, where a picnic lunch provides a welcome break.

After spending time at Lava Tower, you will descend about 660 meters to Barranco Camp. This descent is important for acclimatization, allowing your body to adjust to the thinner air while giving your legs a chance to recover from the ascent. Upon arrival at Barranco Camp, your tents will be ready, and drinking and washing water will be prepared.

Dinner is served at camp, and you will spend the night at 3,940 meters, resting and acclimatizing for the days ahead.

Day 4

Baranco Camp - Barafu Camp

After breakfast, you will leave Barranco Camp and begin the climb to Barafu Camp (4,600m) via the iconic Barranco Wall. The hike takes 6–8 hours, covering 8.5 km with an altitude gain of 850 meters. Along the way, a picnic lunch breaks up the climb, and you will enjoy spectacular views of valleys.

At Barafu Camp, you’ll rest briefly, have an early dinner, and take a short sleep to prepare for the summit attempt. Around 11:00 pm, you’ll wake, pack essential items, and enjoy hot drinks and snacks before starting the final ascent.

The climb to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) takes 6–7 hours, covering 4.86 km with an altitude gain of 1,295 meters. The trail passes rocky scree and snow-covered slopes. Reaching the summit is a life-changing achievement,

After a short stay, you descend back to Barafu Camp to rest and recover before continuing the journey down the mountain. This day combines physical challenge, stunning scenery, and the ultimate reward of standing atop Africa’s highest peak.

Day 5

Barafu Camp - Uhuru Peak - Mweka Camp

After summiting Uhuru Peak to Barafu Camp for breakfast and a short rest. This pause allows you to recover from the strenuous climb and prepare for the continued descent.

After breakfast, the trek continues through the alpine desert, heath, and moorland zones, gradually entering the lush rain forest as you make your way to Mweka Camp (3,100m). A hot lunch is served along the route to refuel and enjoy the scenery.

The total distance from Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp via Barafu is approximately 11.5 km, with a cumulative altitude loss of 2,795 meters. Upon arrival at Mweka Camp, you can relax, have dinner, and rest for the night, reflecting on your Kilimanjaro achievement.

This descent combines recovery, stunning views, and a gradual return to lower-altitude ecosystems, marking the final stage of your summit adventure.

After breakfast, you will begin the final stage of your Kilimanjaro journey. The trail leads through the lush, green rainforest toward Mweka Gate. Hikers who reached the top of Uhuru Peak receive gold certificates, while those who reached Stella Point receive green certificates. This recognition serves as a formal acknowledgment of the dedication, endurance, and effort required to climb Africa’s highest mountain. Receiving the certificate is a memorable and meaningful moment, marking the culmination of days of trekking, physical exertion, and personal challenge.

After the certificate ceremony, you will meet your vehicle for the transfer back to your hotel in Moshi.
