Covering approximately 15,000 square kilometers, Serengeti National Park is Tanzania’s largest park and is renowned for its vast, varied landscapes, including sweeping grasslands, savannah, swamps, lakes, and low mountain ranges. From late April through May and June, vast herds of wildebeest—accompanied by zebra, eland, and gazelle—gather in this region south of the Grumeti River. The area is rich in predator activity, offering chances to spot leopard and hyena, while the river itself is guarded by enormous Nile crocodiles. As some animals attempt the dramatic crossing and others seek safer routes, the spectacle unfolds against an endless horizon beneath the immense Serengeti sky, leaving a lasting impression of nature’s raw power and beauty.

Day 6
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
Serengeti to Ngorongoro Crater
At first glance, the Crater appears like a lost world, hidden within steep volcanic walls. Inside lies a pristine wilderness of sweeping savannah, acacia woodlands, glistening lakes, and swamps. Formed two to three million years ago when a massive volcano collapsed, the Crater offers a unique glimpse into nature’s grandeur.
The drive down to the Crater floor is an adventure in itself. Once inside, you encounter large herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle, along with more than 500 bird species. The Crater also provides one of the best opportunities to spot the endangered black rhino grazing in the open grasslands.
After a full afternoon of exploration, we continue to your accommodation in Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.
