Walking Safari in Arusha National Park

Walking Safari in Arusha National Park

Despite its relatively small size, the Arusha National Park boasts unmatched geographical diversity – from the rainforest slopes of Mount Meru to the scenic Momella Lakes and wide savannah plains. This variety offers a truly rich and immersive safari experience.

Arusha is one of the few parks in Tanzania where walking safaris are allowed. Accompanied by a ranger, you’ll walk through the acacia-dotted bushland, where encounters with giraffes, bushbuck antelopes, warthogs, and buffalo are possible from as close as 20–30 meters.

You’ll continue the adventure in a Land Cruiser toward the park’s most picturesque gem – Momella Lakes. Here you can spot flamingos, hornbills, ibises, pelicans, vultures, and many other of the 200+ bird species.

After picnic lunch, you'll start driving to the lodge and check in at Manyara’s Secret. Your villa for two with a private plunge pool is the perfect place to slow down and enjoy the magic of your first safari days together.

Cultural Experience in Mto wa Mbu village

Your second morning begins with a cultural experience in the vibrant village of Mto wa Mbu, home to over 120 different tribes living side by side. This colorful community is full of life, stories, and warmth. You’ll stroll through bustling markets, see traditional homes, and meet local artists, farmers, woodcarvers, and banana beer brewers. At the banana plantation, you’ll learn about the dozens of banana varieties and how they’re used in everything from meals to paintings and even construction.

By midday, you’ll return to Manyara’s Secret, a quiet lodge tucked into the escarpment with beautiful views over the valley. You can relax by the pool, enjoy a peaceful lunch, or simply rest in your villa after a morning of exploring.

The afternoon is yours to spend as you like – read on the terrace, watch the light shift across the landscape, or book a massage if you feel like unwinding even more. As evening comes, it’s a great place to slow down and enjoy the calm together.

Ngorongoro Crater

Today you’ll explore the legendary Ngorongoro Crater! Your day starts early as your guide drives you into this massive volcanic caldera, part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The descent into the crater takes about 30 minutes through lush forests, with a stop at a lookout for a panoramic view. The crater is home to tens of thousands of animals, offering more wildlife variety per square meter than anywhere else. Elephants, buffalo, antelopes, lions, cheetahs, zebras, and even rare rhinos can be seen. Most animals remain inside, enjoying fresh grass and safe prey.
After your morning game drive, stop for a snack at Lake Magadi, a hotspot for birds (watch out for cheeky kites!) and hippos that often surface near the shore. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is celebrated for its rich wildlife and unique ecosystem, making every moment inside the crater unforgettable.

Serengeti National Park

Today’s adventure takes you to the world-famous Serengeti, in the stunning Seronera area. The park is home to over 3 million animals and stretches across an area so vast it would take 2-3 days to cross by car, giving wildlife plenty of space to roam freely. Here, you’re almost guaranteed to see lions, antelopes, elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, and zebras, with a good chance of spotting cheetahs, serval cats, and other rare savannah animals. The Serengeti is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, celebrated for its unique ecosystem, dense wildlife, and the annual Great Migration. Life here inspired Disney’s Lion King, but unlike a cartoon, it’s raw, wild, and breathtaking.

In the evening, a truly special private bush dinner will be set up for you. You can often hear the sounds of wildlife, which adds to the authentic feel. A wonderful mix of delicious food and cultural richness against the enchanting backdrop of the Tanzanian wilderness!
