Hwange national park is the largest and most famous wildlife reserve in Zimbabwe, covering about 14,600 square kilometres of diverse wilderness. Located about two hours from Victoria Falls, the park is renowned for its vast open plains, teak forests, and natural waterholes that attract an incredible variety of wildlife throughout the year.
Hwange is especially famous for its large elephant population, one of the biggest in Africa, with herds often seen gathering around waterholes during the dry season. The park is also home to lions, leopards, buffalo, giraffes, zebras, hyenas, and numerous antelope species including sable, roan, and kudu. With over 400 recorded bird species, Hwange is also a paradise for bird lovers.
