Nairobi to the Gateway of Kilimanjaro

Depart Nairobi in the morning, traveling south through the Athi Plains and the colorful Maasai town of Namanga. As you approach Amboseli National Park, the silhouette of Mount Kilimanjaro (5,895 meters) begins to dominate the horizon. Arrive at Nyati Camp in time for a warm welcome and lunch. In the late afternoon, embark on your first game drive. The park is famous for its "Pleistocene" lakebed, which transforms into lush marshes fed by underground springs from Kilimanjaro’s snowmelt. Look for hippos and buffaloes wading in the Enkongo Narok swamp before returning to Nyati Camp for dinner under the stars.

The Giants of Amboseli & Cultural Immersion

Rise before dawn for a sunrise game drive; this is the optimal time to view Kilimanjaro’s summit before cloud cover typically sets in by mid-morning. Witness vast herds of African elephants (Loxodonta Africana) migrating from the woodlands to the swamps. Visit Observation Hill for a panoramic view of the entire park, including the shimmering salt pans and the emerald-green marshes. After lunch at Nyati Camp, have optional visit a local Maasai boma (village) to learn about the traditional customs, beadwork, and rhythmic dances of the Maasai people who co-exist with the region's wildlife. Conclude the day with a late afternoon drive, seeking out predators like lions and cheetahs as they begin their nocturnal hunts

Final Sunrise & Return to Nairobi

Enjoy a final early morning game drive to capture last-minute photos of the "Snows of Kilimanjaro" and the park’s diverse birdlife, which includes over 400 species such as the Grey Crowned Crane and various raptors. After a hearty breakfast at Nyati Camp, check out and begin the scenic drive back to Nairobi. You will transit through the semi-arid landscapes of Kajiado County, arriving back in the capital city by late afternoon, marking the end of your Amboseli adventure.
