Day 1

Marangu Gate To Mandara Hut

Marangu Gate To Mandara Hut

Depart from Arusha and drive to Marangu Gate on Mount Kilimanjaro for registration and trek briefing. After completing park formalities, begin the hike through the lush rainforest of the mountain where tall trees, thick vegetation and wildlife such as colobus monkeys can often be seen. The trail gradually ascends through this beautiful forest environment until reaching Mandara Hut where climbers rest for the night.

Day 2

Mandara Hut To Horombo Hut

After breakfast the trek continues leaving the dense rainforest and entering the heath and moorland zone where the vegetation becomes shorter and the landscape opens up with wide views. Along the trail you will begin to see unique alpine plants such as giant lobelia and groundsels. The path steadily climbs toward Horombo Hut with impressive views of Mawenzi Peak and Kibo Peak, arriving in the afternoon for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

Horombo Hut To Mawenzi Ridge

Horombo Hut To Mawenzi Ridge

This day is reserved for acclimatization to help the body adjust to the increasing altitude. After breakfast you will hike towards Mawenzi Ridge, a scenic area that offers spectacular views of the rugged Mawenzi Peak and the surrounding alpine desert landscape. After spending time at higher elevation to aid acclimatization, you descend back to Horombo Hut for relaxation, meals and overnight stay.

Day 4

Horombo Hut To Kibo Hut

Horombo Hut To Kibo Hut

The journey continues from Horombo Hut toward Kibo Hut crossing the wide saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Vegetation becomes very limited as the environment changes into an alpine desert with open rocky terrain and dramatic views of the mountain. The hike is steady and gradual, arriving at Kibo Hut in the afternoon where climbers rest, have an early dinner and prepare for the midnight summit attempt.

Day 5

Kibo Hut To Uhuru Peak

Kibo Hut To Uhuru Peak

Around midnight the summit climb begins under the stars. The steep and challenging ascent leads slowly toward the crater rim before reaching the highest point in Africa, Uhuru Peak at the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. After enjoying the sunrise and celebrating the achievement at the top, climbers descend back to Kibo Hut for a short rest before continuing further down to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight after this long but rewarding day.

Day 6

Horombo Hut To Marangu Hut

Horombo Hut To Marangu Hut

After breakfast begin the descent from Horombo Hut through the moorland and rainforest zones back to Marangu Gate. Upon arrival climbers complete exit formalities and receive summit certificates before driving back to Arusha where you can relax and recover from the mountain adventure with an overnight stay at the hotel.

Day 7

Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park

After breakfast depart from Arusha for Tarangire National Park for a full day wildlife safari. The park is famous for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees and the Tarangire River which attracts many animals especially during the dry season. During the game drive you may see elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, antelopes and many species of birds before heading to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast travel toward the famous Serengeti National Park passing through the beautiful landscapes of the Ngorongoro highlands. As you enter the Serengeti plains the scenery opens into vast grasslands that support one of the greatest concentrations of wildlife in the world. Enjoy an afternoon game drive searching for lions, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, giraffes and large herds of grazing animals before heading to your camp for dinner and overnight.

After enjoying the game drive and lunch inside the crater, begin the journey back to Arusha where the safari adventure comes to an end.
