Your adventure begins with a drive to Lemosho Gate, located within Kilimanjaro National Park. After registration and meeting the mountain crew, the trek begins through a dense tropical rainforest. This area is rich with wildlife, including colobus monkeys and colorful birds. The trail gradually ascends to Mti Mkubwa Camp, also known as Big Tree Camp.

Day 2
Mti Mkubwa Camp – Shira 1 Camp
Mti Mkubwa Camp – Shira 1 Camp
Leaving the rainforest behind, the trail climbs into the moorland zone. The landscape opens up with beautiful views of the Shira Plateau and the surrounding valleys. By afternoon you will reach Shira 1 Camp, located on the western edge of the plateau.

Day 3
Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp
Shira 1 Camp – Shira 2 Camp
Today is a relatively gentle trekking day across the wide Shira Plateau, one of the largest high-altitude plateaus in the world. The hike provides incredible panoramic views and helps your body gradually acclimatize to the altitude.

Day 4
Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp
Shira 2 Camp – Lava Tower – Barranco Camp
This is an important acclimatization day. The trail climbs gradually toward the famous Lava Tower before descending to Barranco Camp. This strategy of “climb high, sleep low” helps your body adapt to the altitude while offering spectacular views of the mountain.
Elevation: 3,850 m to 4,600 m then down to 3,960 m

Day 5
Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp
Barranco Camp – Karanga Camp
The day begins with the famous Barranco Wall climb, a steep but manageable scramble that rewards climbers with breathtaking views. After reaching the top, the trail continues through valleys and ridges before arriving at Karanga Camp.

Day 6
Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp
Karanga Camp – Barafu Camp
Today you hike toward Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit attempt. The landscape becomes rocky and exposed as you approach the high alpine zone. After arriving at camp, you will rest, eat an early dinner, and prepare for the midnight summit climb.

Day 7
Barafu Camp – Summit – Mweka Camp
Barafu Camp – Summit – Mweka Camp
Your summit attempt begins around midnight. The climb is challenging but incredibly rewarding as you reach Stella Point and continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating at the summit, descend to Mweka Camp for rest.
Elevation: 4,640 m → 5,895 m → 3,100 m

Day 8
Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate
Mweka Camp – Mweka Gate
After breakfast, descend through the beautiful rainforest to Mweka Gate where you will receive your official summit certificate. Afterward, transfer back to Moshi for celebration and relaxation.
