Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Crater
In the morning, you will take a flight from Zanzibar to Arusha, where you will be warmly welcomed and driven toward the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater. Often called the eighth Natural Wonder of the World, it is the largest intact volcanic caldera on Earth.
Formed about two million years ago after a massive volcanic eruption, the crater is surrounded by towering walls rising about 600 meters. The crater floor stretches nearly 19 kilometers across and features acacia forests, swamps filled with hippos, and wide grasslands.
Here, the Maasai people graze their cattle alongside wildlife such as buffalo and wildebeest. You will enjoy a picnic lunch inside the crater before heading to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.
