Your 5-day Tanzania camping safari begins with an early morning departure from Arusha to Tarangire National Park, famous for its large elephant herds and ancient baobab trees. The drive takes about two hours through scenic Maasai villages and open landscapes. Upon arrival, enjoy a full game drive in Tarangire, a park well known for excellent wildlife viewing including elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and numerous bird species. The Tarangire River attracts animals throughout the year, making it one of the best parks in northern Tanzania for wildlife encounters. Begin the day with an early morning sunrise game drive in Serengeti National Park, the best time to see predators such as lions, leopards, and hyenas when they are still active. Enjoy a picnic lunch before beginning the journey toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Along the way, enjoy wildlife viewing as you leave the Serengeti ecosystem. Arrive in the late afternoon at the Ngorongoro Crater rim, where breathtaking views of the world’s largest intact volcanic caldera await. Dinner and overnight at a campsite near Ngorongoro Crater, preparing for the crater safari the next day.

Ngorongoro Crater – Arusha

After an early breakfast, descend 600 meters into the spectacular Ngorongoro Crater, often called one of the Seven Natural Wonders of Africa. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is home to one of the highest concentrations of wildlife in Africa. During your Ngorongoro Crater game drive, you may spot the famous Big Five including lions, elephants, buffalo, leopards, and the rare black rhino. The crater also hosts zebras, wildebeest, hippos, hyenas, and a wide variety of birdlife including flamingos around Lake Magadi. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor surrounded by breathtaking scenery. After the safari, ascend the crater walls and begin the scenic drive back to Arusha, passing through the fertile highlands and Maasai communities. Arrive in the late afternoon where your 5-day Tanzania camping safari adventure comes to an end.
