Arrival in Kigali

After breakfast at your hotel in Kigali or upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will met our guide and go for a short Kigali City Tour visiting the Kigali Memorial Genocide centre for an insight about the horrific genocide of 1994. You will also visit the local markets and enjoy lunch at one of restaurants in the city.
Later embark on a journey to Volcanoes National Park arriving in the evening, check in at your lodge situated on the foothills of Virunga Volcanoes, enjoy an evening of rest, have dinner and overnight stay as you prepare for the next day’s adventure.

First Gorilla Trekking Experience

Wake up for breakfast, then meet your guide and head to the park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing about gorilla trekking and registration, all while being entertained by locals and a cup of locally grown Rwanda coffee. You will be assigned a gorilla family to trek in groups of 8 people, then drive to the starting point.
Enter into the emerald forest of Volcanoes National Park searching for mountain gorillas, the trek takes approximately 2 to 4 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas. Guided by a ranger guide, you will be able to trace the whereabouts of the gorillas and then spend one hour in their presence watching them play, feed and groom each other under a watchful gaze of a silverback. Spare some time to take amazing pictures and videos.
Later trek back to the park headquarters where you will meet your guide and return to the lodge for lunch. Spend the evening at rest enjoying the facilities of the lodge. Have dinner and overnight stay.

Second Gorilla Trekking Experience

Today you will embark on a second gorilla trekking adventure in Volcanoes National Park, this time you will visit a different gorilla family.
After breakfast, you will proceed to the park headquarters in Kinigi for briefing and be assigned a gorilla family to trek. You will have the same experience as the previous day, witnessing the completely different lifestyle and characters of the gorilla family. Later in the day, you will head to the Iby’Iwacu Village for a cultural experience, be entertained by local dances and drama, interact with the locals and get a taste of local dishes. Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
