On arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our driver-guide. Depending on your arrival, you will go for a Kigali City Tour visiting the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local markets, art galleries among others giving you a warm welcome to Land - the Land of a Thousand Hills.

Day 2

After breakfast, travel north to Musanza near the Volcanoes National Park, check into your lodge and in the afternoon you shall go for a canoe ride on River Mukungwa, a thrilling way to explore the beautiful landscape, meet up with the locals along the river and watch some otters and various bird species.

Today you shall go for hiking in the Volcanoes National Park, hike the Dian Fossey Tomb Trail which is situated in the valley between mountains Bisoke and Karisimbi. The trail starts at the base of Mountain Bisoke to the grave and former research center of the famous primatologist Dian Fossey who dedicated her life to studying mountain gorillas and advocating for their protection.
The trek goes through lush greenery and offers incredible views of the Virunga Mountains in the park, along the trek you shall encounter several wildlife including golden monkeys, mountain gorillas, duikers and rare plant species. The trek is 3-5 hours long and depends on your fitness.
If you are a hiking or mountain climbing enthusiast you can go for the Mount Bisoke Hike, one of the 5 volcanic peaks in Volcanoes National Park. The hike is a 6-8 hour round hike.

Today you shall do a golden monkey tracking adventure in Volcanoes National Park, these primates are unique to the Virunga Mountains and stay in the bamboo forest along the base of the mountains. They have beautiful golden fur coat and their spritely character makes them an exciting encounter. The trek to find them is relatively light as they are at the bottom of the mountains, it will take about one hour to locate them and then you shall have one hour with a habituated group with more than 100 individuals.
After the expedition, you will shall travel to Uganda’s Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with border crossing at Cyanika or Katuna Border. Continue to your lodge for check-in, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5

Gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Wake up early and enjoy breakfast by 6.30m and transfer to the park headquarters by 7 am. You will be allocated a habituated gorilla family to trek and then head off into the thick jungles of Bwindi to find the gorillas.
The trek through the misty forests of Bwindi to find the gorillas takes approximately 2 to 5 hours or more depending on the movement of the gorillas and where they spent their previous night. Once you locate the gorilla family, you will spend one hour in their presence observing how they live in the wild, watch the baby gorilla play from one branch to another, female gorillas groom their babies as the silverback watches over the family.
Later trek back to the park headquarters to meet your driver guide and return to your lodge for an evening of rest, dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6

Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After breakfast you shall transfer to Lake Bunyonyi for a day of relaxation recovering from the tough treks in Bwindi and Volcanoes National Park. While at the lake you shall do a boat ride on the lake and explore the breathtaking scenery.
Lake Bunyonyi is the second deepest lake and possesses one of the best scenery, it is dotted with several lush islands and surrounded by beautiful terraced hills.

Day 7

Transfer to Kibale National Park

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and embark on a journey to Kibale National Park – the world’s primate capital. Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge and in the afternoon go for a guided walk in Bigodi Wetlands - here you will get sightings of several black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys.

Today you shall go for the chimpanzee tracking adventure in Kibale Forest to meet our closest relatives, Kibale Forest is home to the biggest population of chimpanzees in Uganda numbering at about 1,500 individuals and by far it is the best place for chimpanzee trekking as it offers 100% chance of seeing the chimpanzees. The forest is home to 12 other primate species inhabiting the forest, including several species of monkeys like olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys among others.
You will spend one hour with the chimpanzees watching them go on with their life in the forest of Kibale. Return to the lodge lunch and in the afternoon, go for a nature walk in Bigodi wetlands to visit the local communities around Bigodi and get to learn about the cultures and traditions.
