Transfer from Kampala to Kasese

Begin your journey with a scenic drive from Kampala or Entebbe to Kasese District.
En route, pause at the Uganda Equator Line for photos and continue to Fort Portal for lunch.
Arrive in the Rwenzori foothills for dinner and overnight stay, preparing for the adventure ahead.

Nyakalengijo ( 1615m- Nyabutaba hut( 2651m)

After breakfast and briefing, commence the trek from Nyakalengija through dense montane forest.
Cross the Mubuku River and ascend steadily while observing diverse flora and fauna, including the Rwenzori turaco. The trail transitions through bamboo zones before reaching Nyabitaba Hut for dinner and overnight.

Nyabitaba Hut (2615m)-John Matte (3414m)

Depart Nyabitaba and traverse the Kichuchu rocky terrain with remarkable views of Mount Stanley.
The trail leads through giant lobelia vegetation and alpine landscapes.
Cross streams and valleys before arriving at John Matte Hut, located near the Bujuku River, for rest and overnight accommodation.

John matte hut (3414m)-Bujuku Hut (3962m)

Proceed through the scenic Bigo Bog using boardwalks and natural paths.
Continue toward Lake Bujuku, surrounded by dramatic peaks including Mount Baker and Mount Speke.
Arrive at Bujuku Hut for dinner and overnight in a unique high-altitude environment.

Bujuku Hut ( 3962 m)-Elena Hut (4541m)

Ascend via Scott Elliot Pass, navigating steep and rocky sections into the alpine zone.
The landscape becomes more rugged with glacial features as you approach Elena Hut, situated at the base of Margherita Peak. Spend the afternoon resting and preparing for the early summit attempt.

Margherita peak (5109m & descend to Katandona hut (4023m)

Begin before dawn for the ascent of Margherita Peak, traversing glaciers with technical support.
Reach the summit, the third-highest point in Africa, and take in panoramic views.
Descend carefully to Kitandara Hut for overnight after a challenging yet rewarding day.

Katondana Hut(4023m)-Guy Yeoman Hut (3261m)

(Approximately 6-7 hours hike)
Depart Kitandara and cross Freshfield Pass, offering distant views toward the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Descend through rugged and muddy terrain characteristic of the Rwenzori range.
Continue to Guy Yeoman Hut (3261 m)for dinner and overnight rest.

Guy Yeoman Hut(3261m)-Nyakalengijo(1615m)

Undertake the final descent through bamboo forests and the Mubuku Valley.
Enjoy changing vegetation zones as you return to Nyakalengija. Upon arrival, receive summit certificates and relax after completing the expedition.
Overnight stay near the trailhead.
