Early transfer to Kibale National Park headquarters for a detailed briefing before setting off into the dense tropical forest in search of chimpanzees. Accompanied by experienced ranger guides, you will follow trails through lush vegetation while listening for the distinctive calls of the chimps echoing through the forest. As you trek, you may encounter other primates such as red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys, along with a rich diversity of birdlife. Embark on a morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, one of the best wildlife viewing areas in Queen Elizabeth National Park. As the sun rises over the savannah, you will have the opportunity to spot lions on the hunt, elephants moving in herds, buffalo grazing, and various antelope species. Your guide will help track wildlife while sharing insights into animal behavior and the park’s unique ecosystem.

After returning to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation, you will head out for an afternoon boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway that connects Lake George and Lake Edward. This cruise offers one of the highest concentrations of hippos in Africa, along with Nile crocodiles basking on the shores and elephants coming to drink at the water’s edge. Today marks the highlight of your safari experience. After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing by experienced rangers before setting off into the dense forest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek can take anywhere from a couple of hours to most of the day, depending on the gorillas’ location, and will involve navigating through thick vegetation, steep slopes, and muddy trails.

Once the gorillas are located, you will spend a magical hour in their presence. Observing these gentle giants up close as they feed, groom, and interact is a deeply moving and unforgettable experience. The encounter offers a rare opportunity to connect with one of the world’s most endangered species in their natural habitat.
