Early transfer to Kibale National Park headquarters for a detailed briefing before setting off into the dense tropical forest in search of chimpanzees. Accompanied by experienced ranger guides, you will follow trails through lush vegetation while listening for the distinctive calls of the chimps echoing through the forest. As you trek, you may encounter other primates such as red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys, along with a rich diversity of birdlife. Once the chimpanzees are located, you will spend an unforgettable hour observing their social interactions, feeding habits, and playful behavior in their natural habitat.

After returning to the lodge for lunch and some relaxation, you will head out for an afternoon boat safari along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway that connects Lake George and Lake Edward. This cruise offers one of the highest concentrations of hippos in Africa, along with Nile crocodiles basking on the shores and elephants coming to drink at the water’s edge. The channel is also a haven for birdlife, making it a paradise for photographers and nature lovers. You will return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

After an early breakfast, you will head to the park headquarters for a briefing by experienced rangers before setting off into the dense forest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek can take anywhere from a couple of hours to most of the day, depending on the gorillas’ location, and will involve navigating through thick vegetation, steep slopes, and muddy trails.
Once the gorillas are located, you will spend a magical hour in their presence. Observing these gentle giants up close as they feed, groom, and interact is a deeply moving and unforgettable experience. The encounter offers a rare opportunity to connect with one of the world’s most endangered species in their natural habitat.
After the trek, you may choose to relax at the lodge or take part in an optional Batwa cultural experience. This visit provides insight into the lives of the indigenous forest people, including traditional music, dance, and storytelling.
