The journey takes around three hours and offers beautiful views of the Rift Valley. Like many lakes in the Rift Valley, Lake Ndutu is alkaline and attracts an impressive variety of wildlife.

Once you’ve had picnic lunch, you’ll set out on a game drive through the Ndutu region. From December to April, the vast herds of the wildebeest migration typically gather on these short-grass plains. After an exciting afternoon of wildlife viewing, you’ll continue to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Guided Game Drive in Ndutu Area Overnight - Ndutu

After a hearty breakfast, we’ll set off for a full-day game drive in the Ndutu region. Our aim is to explore the diverse habitats found hereincluding swamps, woodlands, alkaline lakes, and the iconic Serengeti short-grass plains. This area offers remarkable wildlife encounters, especially the breathtaking sight of vast herds of wildebeest and zebra.

Around January, over a period of roughly three weeks, most wildebeest give birth, with nearly half a million calves arriving in an extraordinary display of synchronized calving. With little vegetation for cover, newborn calves are vulnerable but remarkably, they are able to run within minutes and typically keep pace with the herd within just a few days.

As the day’s adventures across the “Endless Plains” come to a close, we’ll return to your accommodation for dinner and an overnight stay.

Along the way, you will have excellent opportunities to spot predators such as lions, cheetahs, and hyenas, which are often drawn to this area due to the abundance of prey. The drive offers not only exciting wildlife viewing but also stunning landscapes that transition from the open plains of Ndutu to the iconic savannahs of Central Serengeti.
