Day 2

Flight to Kibale & Transfer to the Forest

Flight to Kibale & Transfer to the Forest

After an early breakfast, transfer to Entebbe Airport for your scheduled flight to Kasese. The flight offers beautiful aerial views of Uganda’s varied landscapes, from lakes to rolling hills.

On arrival, you will be met by your guide and transferred to Kibale Forest. The drive takes you through tea plantations and rural countryside before arriving at Primate Lodge, set within the forest itself.

After lunch, the afternoon is left at leisure. You may hear forest sounds all around you, with monkeys often moving through the trees nearby.

Chimpanzee Trekking and Bigodi Wetland Walk

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a briefing before entering Kibale Forest for chimpanzee tracking. The forest is alive with activity, and as you move through it, you may encounter several primate species along the way.

Once the chimpanzees are located, spend time observing them as they feed, groom, and interact. Their energy and movement create a dynamic and engaging experience.

In the afternoon, visit Bigodi Wetland for a guided walk. This community-managed reserve offers a quieter experience, rich in birdlife and additional primate sightings, while also providing insight into local conservation efforts.

Accompanied by experienced rangers, you will walk through the forest in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek can vary in duration, but once located, you will spend one hour observing them in their natural environment.

The experience is quiet, intimate, and deeply moving. Afterward, return to the lodge for a relaxed afternoon.
