1-Day Mount Bisoke Volcano Hike, Volcanoes National Park

Begin your adventure at 4:15 AM with pickup from your Kigali hotel by an experienced Vazquez driver-guide. Enjoy a scenic 2.5-hour drive through Rwanda’s rolling hills to Volcanoes National Park, followed by a park briefing and a 30-minute transfer to the Mount Bisoke trailhead.

The hike is moderately challenging and requires good physical fitness. Accompanied by a park guide, armed ranger, and porter, trek through bamboo forest and changing vegetation zones toward the summit. The ascent typically takes 2–4 hours, depending on pace and conditions, with beautiful volcanic landscapes along the way.

At the summit, admire Bisoke’s emerald crater lake nestled within the volcanic rim and surrounded by the Virunga Mountains. After time for photos and refreshments, descend with porter assistance before enjoying lunch at Imbuga Restaurant. Relax on the return drive to Kigali, with drop-off at your hotel or Kigali International Airport.
