Day 1
Experience the Salt pans, Sleep under the dome of stars in the vast openness of the salt pans
Experience the Salt pans, Sleep under the dome of stars in the vast openness of the salt pans
You will be picked up in the shortly after your breakfast in the lodge and you will embark on 3 hours journey to Gweta village with your guide. The road will be tarmac and on the way you will drive through Makgadikgadi and Nxai pans national park. As you drive along look on the sides of the road as you might spot some species feeding peacefully or resting under the shade. Common species to see o this drive will be elephants and some small antelopes, o a good time you might spot giraffes, Zebras and some blue wildebeests.
On arrival in Gweta you will be served lunch and thereafter when the temperature cools you will go on a 2 hours slow drive to the salt pans.
You will observe the beautiful sun set on arrival
Dinners will be served in the camp and after dinner.
After dinner when the night sky becomes clearer we will switch or put out all lights nd you will have time to admire the beauty of the night sky. As you watch the starts we will learn about them and do story telling.

Day 2
A morning walk with the Meerkats and watch them as they feed and play around
A morning walk with the Meerkats and watch them as they feed and play around
In the morning you will be served coffee, tea, Juice, cereals and fruits and thereafter you will be taken on a drive to the edges of the salt pans where you will now be introduced to the most famous species found in that area being the Meerkats. The beautiful mammals are mostly famous for their tight social structure and their ability to fight with some of the World’s deadly snakes found in the region like Black Mamba and Spitting Cobras. Their day to day survival skills in this harsh environment makes them one of the best survivors of the Kakahari. With the sophisticated social structure where some members have to look out for predators especially raptor birds while other feed make them one of the most intelligent species in the World.
You will have time to walk with them as they feed and a specialized guide will give you interpretation on the social structure and both feeding and breeding behaviors.
After then you will be served bush breakfast before driving back to Maun.
