Arrival in Addis Ababa

Upon arrival at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, you will be welcomed by your guide and transferred to your hotel for check-in and rest. Depending on your arrival time, you may enjoy a short city tour including the National Museum, Entoto Hills for panoramic views, and Merkato, one of Africa’s largest open-air markets. Your overnight stay will be in Addis Ababa.

Fly to Arba Minch

After breakfast, you transfer to the airport for your domestic flight to Arba Minch in southern Ethiopia. On arrival, drive to Dorze village in the Guge Mountains. Lake Chamo and Konso Cultural Landscape

You'll start the day with a boat excursion on Lake Chamo where you may see hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife. You'll travel through scenic southern Ethiopian landscapes toward Turmi, home of the Hamer people. Along the way, you'll enjoy views of rural villages and changing environments. In Turmi, you will visit local Hamer communities and learn about their customs, including traditional dress, hairstyles, and cultural ceremonies, if available. Your overnight stay will be in Turmi.

Karo Tribe Excursion

After breakfast, you drive to Korcho village to visit the Karo people, known for their artistic body painting and cultural expression along the Omo River. You depart Turmi and drive to Jinka through scenic landscapes and tribal villages. En route, you'll observe local communities and rural life in the Omo Valley. Mursi Tribe and Fly to Addis Ababa

Mekele to Erta Ale Volcano

You drive deep into the Afar region across desert landscapes toward Erta Ale volcano. In the evening, you will begin a guided hike to the volcano rim to witness the active lava lake, one of the world’s most unique natural phenomena. You'll spend the night camping near the volcano under the stars.

Dallol Excursion

After breakfast, you visit Dallol, one of the most surreal landscapes on Earth, known for its colorful geothermal formations, salt flats, and acidic springs. You will explore salt mining activities and camel caravans operated by local Afar communities. Return to Ahmedela for overnight camping.

Ahmedela to Mekele

After breakfast, you drive back to Mekele through the dramatic landscapes of the Danakil Depression. You will arrive in Mekele in the afternoon and check into your hotel for rest and recovery after the desert expedition. Your overnight stay will be in Mekele.

Fly to Addis Ababa and Departure

After breakfast, you transfer to Mekele Airport for your domestic flight back to Addis Ababa.
