Your journey begins with a morning departure from Nairobi at 9:00 am, heading north through the scenic Kenyan highlands. After about 4 hours, you arrive in Nanyuki, a charming town sitting right on the equator and the last major stop before the mountain. Here, you meet your trekking crew guides and porters—before proceeding to Sirimon Gate, the starting point of your adventure.
The hike begins gently through lush montane forest filled with indigenous trees, birds, and occasional wildlife like colobus monkeys. The trail is well-defined and allows your body to gradually adjust to the altitude. The trek is steady but not too demanding—perfect for acclimatization Expect fresh mountain air, shaded paths, and peaceful surroundings You’ll arrive at Judimere Camp in the afternoon, where your tents are already set. Enjoy a warm meal, relax, and soak in your first night on the mountain under a sky full of stars.

Day 2
Through Changing Worlds – Forest to Alpine Kingdom

After an early breakfast, you set off at 7:00 am for a longer and more demanding trek. Today’s journey takes you through dramatic ecological changes: From forest → to moorland → to alpine terrain. You’ll see unique high-altitude plants like giant lobelias and groundsels As you gain elevation, the landscape becomes more rugged and open, revealing breathtaking views of the mountain’s jagged peaks. The trek is gradual but requires endurance due to the altitude. Regular breaks and a steady pace are key. By late afternoon, you arrive at Shipton’s Camp, dramatically located beneath the towering peaks of:
Batian (5,199m)
Nelion (5,188m)
This is a surreal setting rocky, cold, and incredibly beautiful. Temperatures drop significantly here, so it’s an early dinner and rest in preparation for summit night.

Day 3
Summit of Dreams – Sunrise Above the Clouds

Time: 12 hrs

Elevation gain: 785
This is the most challenging—and most rewarding—day of your trek.
You begin your summit attempt at 3:00 am, hiking under the stars in freezing conditions. The climb is steep and slow, but incredibly rewarding. After about 3.5 hours, you reach Point Lenana (4,985m) just in time for sunrise.

Enjoy panoramic views of glaciers, valleys, and peaks. After celebrating and taking photos, you descend to Hall’s Tarn for a well-deserved breakfast. The descent via the Chogoria Route is arguably the most scenic part of the entire trek:

You continue down to Anabas Camp, where you’ll spend your final night on the mountain tired, fulfilled, and surrounded by raw wilderness.

Day 4
The Grand Descent – From Peaks to Rainforest
The Grand Descent – From Peaks to Rainforest
After breakfast, you descend further through dense rainforest—completely different from the alpine terrain of the previous days. This section is rich in: Bamboo forests, Thick vegetation, Birdlife and fresh mountain streams
A 4x4 vehicle will typically pick you up, taking you through the forest to Chogoria Town, where you say goodbye to your trekking team.
From here, you begin your journey back to Nairobi, arriving in the evening.
