Your safari begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Kigali by a professional driver-guide from Zamunda Travels. You will start with a Kigali city tour, offering insight into Rwanda’s history and culture. A visit to the Kigali Genocide Memorial provides a moving and educational experience, while local markets and craft centers give you a chance to interact with artisans and explore handmade souvenirs.

After the tour, you will drive to Musanze, a scenic 2–3 hour journey through Rwanda’s beautiful countryside, known for its rolling green hills and rural charm. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and enjoy views of the Virunga volcanoes in a calm and refreshing setting. Spend the evening relaxing, having dinner, and preparing for the next day’s gorilla trekking adventure.

Gorilla Trekking – Return to Kigali

After an early breakfast, transfer to the headquarters of Volcanoes National Park for a briefing by park rangers. You will be assigned a gorilla family and guided on the trekking rules before heading into the forest. The trek takes you through bamboo zones, forest trails, and sometimes steep terrain, lasting between 2 to 6 hours depending on the gorillas’ location.

Once located, you will spend one unforgettable hour observing the gorillas as they feed, play, and interact in their natural environment. This close encounter is both emotional and rewarding. After the experience, return to the starting point, enjoy your packed lunch, and receive a trekking certificate. Later, drive back to Kigali for drop-off at your hotel or the airport, marking the end of your memorable safari.
