Begin your journey from Addis Ababa with a flight or scenic drive to northern Ethiopia. Meet your guide in Adigrat and start trekking toward Seheta village through beautiful highland landscapes, farmland, hills, and rural communities with panoramic mountain views. Enjoy a packed lunch along the route and arrive in the afternoon.
Experience a traditional coffee ceremony and a warm cultural welcome before settling into a community tukul for the night. This is a (semi) participation tour, and guests may help with simple activities such as preparing the sleeping area, setting the table, assisting with basic meal preparation, and keeping the community campsite tidy. Local hosts and staff will manage the main camp arrangements and cooking.

Seheta - Gohagot Highland Trek & Church Visit

Trek from Seheta across rugged highland terrain toward Gohagot village. The trail passes terraced fields, rocky ridges, and remote farming communities. Visit a nearby ancient rock-hewn church such as Gohagot Medhane Alem Church and learn about local Orthodox traditions. In the evening, enjoy cultural interaction with villagers including storytelling and traditional music. Overnight in a community guesthouse.

Gohagot - Shimbti Cultural Trek

Overnight in a traditional tukul guesthouse.

Shimbti - Edega Arbi Valley Descent Trek

Edega Arbi - Hawzen (Gheralta Gateway Trek)

Trek toward the dramatic landscapes of Gheralta, passing escarpments and open desert-like plains. Enjoy breathtaking views as the iconic sandstone cliffs of Gheralta come into sight. Arrive in Hawzen and check into a lodge. Optional visit to Abreha Atsbeha Church or nearby cultural sites.

Gheralta Rock Churches - Addis Ababa Departure

Full-day exploration of the famous rock-hewn churches of Gheralta. Hike to Abuna Yemata Guh, known for its vertical climb and ancient murals, followed by visits to Mariam Korkor and Daniel Korkor. After exploration, transfer back to Mekelle and continue journey to Addis Ababa, where the tour ends.
