Nairobi to Samburu

Your safari begins with a morning pick-up from Nairobi hotel or residence, followed by a scenic drive toward Samburu National Reserve in northern Kenya. Travel through the beautiful Central Highlands and the lush Mt. Kenya region before the landscape changes into the dry, rugged beauty of Samburu.

Arrive at Simba Lodge in the afternoon for check-in and lunch. Set along the Ewaso Nyiro River, the lodge offers peaceful wilderness views and chances to spot wildlife nearby.

Later, head out for your first game drive in Samburu National Reserve, home to the famous Samburu Special Five — Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and beisa oryx — as well as elephants, lions, cheetahs, and rich birdlife.

Return to Simba Lodge for dinner and a relaxed overnight stay.

Full Day in Samburu National Reserve

After an early breakfast, head out for a morning game drive in Samburu National Reserve, when wildlife is most active. Search for the Samburu Special Five — Grevy’s zebra, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, gerenuk, and beisa oryx — along with lions, elephants, buffaloes, leopards, antelopes, and rich birdlife.

Return to Simba Lodge for lunch and relaxation, with time to enjoy the peaceful surroundings or unwind by the pool.

In the afternoon, enjoy a second game drive through Samburu’s riverine vegetation, dry plains, acacia scrub, and dramatic rocky landscapes. You may also choose an optional Samburu village visit to learn about local traditions, lifestyle, dances, and culture.

Return to Simba Lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Samburu to Nairobi

After an early breakfast, enjoy a final morning game drive or a guided nature walk (time permitting) to capture the last moments of Samburu’s beauty. Look for any wildlife you may have missed on previous drives and take in the serenity of the park before departure.

After your game drive, return to Simba Lodge for check-out and begin your scenic drive back to Nairobi. The journey back offers more wonderful views of the changing landscapes of northern Kenya as you pass through the Great Rift Valley.

Arrive in Nairobi by late afternoon, where you will be dropped off at your hotel, residence marking the end of your 3-day safari adventure.
