Your safari begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Nairobi or Jomo Kenyatta International airport, followed by a smooth transfer to Wilson Airport where you will board your scheduled local flight.

On arrival at the Loisaba airstrip, you will be met by your professional guide and transferred through the wilderness, enjoying your first glimpses of the wild in this 15-minutes drive as you head into this scenic part of the Loisaba Conservancy.

Enjoy a relaxed lunch surrounded by nature, your safari experience truly begins in the late afternoon or early evening with your first game drive, where your guide introduces you to the landscape, its wildlife, and the unique ecosystem that supports both common and rare species.

During this drive, you learn the basics of tracking to set the foundation for your search for the elusive black leopard in the days ahead.

Day 2

Game Drive & Tracking the Black Leopard

Begin the day with an early breakfast before heading out into the conservancy during the cool morning hours, when wildlife is most active and the chances of encountering predators are at their best.

Proceed for an extended morning game drive focusing on tracking movements across different habitats. Early morning (dawn) is considered the best time for tracking the black leopard before they rest in the shade for the rest of the day. You may also spot other Big Cats like pride of lions and cheetahs.
Return to camp for lunch and a little rest.

In the afternoon, depart for another game drive exploring new sections of the Loisaba Conservancy, offering opportunities to encounter elephants, Grevy’s zebras, reticulated giraffes, and a variety of plains game. Late evening as the light softens, presents another chance of spotting Black Panther since nocturnal species beginning to emerge at this time.

Day 3

Transfer from Loisaba to Ol Doinyo Lemboro Ranch

Early morning breakfast, then depart at dawn for a final focused game drive within the Loisaba Conservancy, taking advantage of the best tracking hours in a dedicated search for the elusive black leopard as the bush comes alive.

Return to camp for full breakfast, check-out, and proceed with a scenic game drive transfer across Laikipia toward Ol Doinyo Lemboro Ranch.

Arrive in time for lunch and short rest.

Evening game drive in the new area, shifting focus to fresh terrain known for black leopard activity, while also offering opportunities to encounter African wild dogs, elephants, and other resident wildlife.

Return in the evening for dinner and overnight in the wilderness.

Early breakfast at the hotel followed by a morning game drive focused on dedicated tracking in this prime black leopard territory, moving through riverine areas and dense cover where sightings have been recorded.
Laikipia Wilderness Camp is known for the melanistic leopard and one female cub was born and raised less than 1km from the hotel and spotted regularly.

Continue with flexible exploration based on wildlife movement, with opportunities to follow up on fresh tracks and spend time in areas known for both black leopard (Giza) and African wild dog activity.

Return to camp for lunch and short rest.

Late afternoon or evening game drive in a different section of the ranch, expanding coverage and increasing chances of sightings while also encountering elephants, plains game, and other predators.

Return to lounge for dinner. You may go for a night game drive for higher chances of spotting the elusive
