Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our professional safari guide who will brief you about your Rwanda and Uganda safari before starting the journey. Depending on your arrival time, you will enjoy a guided Kigali city tour to explore one of Africa’s cleanest and most vibrant cities. After breakfast, depart Kigali and enjoy a scenic drive through Rwanda’s beautiful rolling hills and countryside landscapes to Volcanoes National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas and golden monkeys. Along the journey, enjoy breathtaking views of terraced farms, local villages, and the Virunga mountain ranges. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge and have lunch before proceeding for the exciting Iby’Iwacu Cultural Experience, where you will interact with the local community and learn about Rwanda’s traditional culture, music, dance, and way of life. Spend time observing and photographing them in their natural habitat while enjoying the beauty of the rainforest surroundings. Wake up early for breakfast before heading to the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park headquarters for a briefing by park rangers about gorilla trekking rules and safety guidelines. Afterwards, begin the unforgettable trek through the dense rainforest in search of a mountain gorilla family. The experience can take a few hours depending on the movement of the gorillas, but the journey through the forest is rewarding with opportunities to spot birds, butterflies, and other wildlife species. Once the gorillas are located, you will spend one magical hour observing them in their natural habitat as they feed, play, and interact with one another. This close encounter with the gentle giants is one of Africa’s most remarkable wildlife experiences. The drive takes you through the southwestern highlands of Uganda, offering beautiful views of rolling hills, terraced farmlands, and local communities along the way. En route, you will pass through the famous Ishasha sector, well known for its rare tree-climbing lions that are often seen resting in fig trees, an exciting opportunity for a game drive and photography if lucky. Continue your journey northwards while enjoying sightings of antelopes, elephants, and other wildlife along the route. Arrive in Queen Elizabeth National Park in the afternoon and check in at your lodge. After an early breakfast, set out for a morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, exploring the vast Kasenyi plains in search of elephants, buffaloes, Uganda kobs, lions, warthogs, and other wildlife species. The open savannah offers excellent opportunities for photography and wildlife viewing as predators and herbivores roam freely in their natural habitat. Return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation before heading for an afternoon boat cruise along the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway connecting Lake Edward and Lake George. During the cruise, enjoy close sightings of hippos, Nile crocodiles, buffaloes along the shoreline, and a variety of bird species such as kingfishers, fish eagles, and pelicans. As you track through the forest, you may encounter other primates such as red colobus monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, and grey-cheeked mangabeys, along with a rich variety of birdlife. Once the chimpanzees are located, spend one unforgettable hour observing them as they feed, play, groom, and interact in their natural habitat.
