Kigali – Akagera National Park (Game Drive & Sunset Boat Safari)

Your safari begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Kigali at 5:00 AM. After breakfast en route, you will enjoy a scenic drive to Akagera National Park, Rwanda’s only savannah park, located approximately 2.5–3 hours from Kigali.

Upon arrival, embark on an exciting game drive through the park’s diverse landscapes, home to elephants, giraffes, zebras, buffaloes, antelopes, and many other wildlife species. Enjoy breathtaking views of the rolling savannah plains and surrounding lakes as you explore the park.

In the late afternoon, enjoy a relaxing sunset boat safari on Lake Ihema, where you may spot hippos, crocodiles, and a variety of birdlife. After the boat safari, proceed to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Mountain Gorilla Trekking & Iby'iwacu Cultural Village

After an early breakfast, you will proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing before starting your unforgettable gorilla trekking experience in Volcanoes National Park.

You will trek through the lush rainforest and spend up to one hour with a habituated mountain gorilla family in their natural habitat — a truly life-changing experience.

After the trek, you will return to your lodge for lunch and rest.

After the trek, return to your lodge for lunch before visiting the Ellen DeGeneres Campus of the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund to learn about mountain gorilla conservation, research, and education. Later, enjoy a scenic drive to Kigali, where you will be transferred to your hotel or Kigali International Airport, marking the end of your unforgettable Rwanda Gorilla & Wildlife Safari.
