Arrival and Addis Ababa City Tour Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, you will be met by a Enat Ethiopia Tours representative and be taken to your reserved hotel. Depending on your arrival time, we have various sightseeing options: Mount Entoto with the best views over the capital. Institute of Ethiopian Studies, where you can see a variety of artifacts from all the different regions reflecting the history and culture of the country National Museum which among other exhibits the 3.5-million-year-old bones of Lucy. Trinity Cathedral: this is the burial place of members of the imperial family and noted patriots; the cathedral is the most magnificent of its kind in the country, ornamented with carvings, mosaics and other artistic works. Flight to Mekele & Drive to Danakil

You'll set off after breakfast and make your way to the airport for your flight to Mekele. Upon arrival, you'll set off towards the village of Hamed Ela, stopping along the way to visit the historic Wukro Kirkos Church and enjoy lunch in the village. You'll then overnight in Hamed Ela under the stars.

Exploring the Volcanic Wonders of Dallol

You'll have an early start today, as we'll be descending to the lowest point in the Danakil Depression - Dallol. With its uniquely colourful volcanic terrain and its ridiculously high temperatures, Dallol is known around the world as the 'hottest inhabited place on the planet'. After a little time here, we're sure you'll agree! Your time in Dallol includes a visit to the grueling local salt mines and a chance to watch the camel caravans of the Afar people who live in this inhospitable place. Return to the relative cool of Hamed Ela to overnight.

Trek to the Active Lava Lake of Erta Ale

It's another day of volcanic adventures today, as you'll drive to Dodom at the foot of the Erta Ale (Smoking Mountain) volcano. You'll ditch the car and begin the trek up the volcano in the early hours so that you can appreciate its spectacular lava lake before the day is too hot. In a real treat, you'll enjoy dinner and a night on the very rim of this volcano.

Descend Volcano & Drive to Tigray

You'll have another early start today, as you'll descend back to Dodom village to meet your car and begin the drive to Wukro. Along the way, you'll pay a visit to the famous rock-hewn churches of Tigray. Enjoy a warm dinner and a comfortable overnight stay in the town of Wukro after your days in the desert.

Return to Mekele & Departure

After breakfast, enjoy a brief tour of Wukro before driving back to Mekele. You will catch your domestic return flight back to Addis Ababa. Depending on your international flight schedule, you can do some last-minute souvenir shopping or enjoy a traditional Ethiopian farewell dinner before transferring to the airport for your departure.
