Day 1

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After an early breakfast, you will depart from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe and travel westwards through Uganda’s beautiful green countryside to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The journey will take 6 to 7 hours with stopovers at tourist attractions such as the Royal Drum Makers village and the Equator for an opportunity to stand in 2 hemispheres at the same time. You will continue through the savannah grasslands with lots of banana plantations and several herds of local long-horned Ankole cattle, endemic to this part of the country.

You will arrive at Queen Elizabeth National Park in the evening and have dinner and overnight at Engiri Game Lodge.

Day 2

Game drive and boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park

You will set off early (about 6:30 am) for a morning game drive, an awesome experience to spot the animals in their natural habitats. Expect to see the famous Big Five (elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard), as well as bushbuck, kob, giant forest hog, hyena, antelope, and waterbuck as well as birds. You will return for breakfast and relax until lunch.

In the afternoon, you will take a launch cruise along the amazing Kazinga Channel to see, at close range, the aquatic animals including hippos, buffaloes, crocodiles, and elephants bathing on the channel banks. There is also a variety of bird species on the banks, especially the famous shoebill stork, pelican, and jacana. You will have dinner and overnight at Engiri Game Lodge.

Day 3

Chimp tracking in Queen Elizabeth and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After your early breakfast, head to the forest for chimp tracking which takes about 3 to 4 hours. Proceed to Ntungamo town where you will have your lunch en-route. You then proceed to Lake Bunyonyi in Kabale where you take an afternoon boat cruise. Bunyonyi means “place of many birds”. It is also a good photographic experience.

You will proceed to Bunyonyi Safari Resort for check-in and later go for a canoe ride. Return for dinner and overnight.

Day 4

After an early breakfast, you will set off to tour Lake Bunyonyi. This lake is said to be one of the most beautiful places in Western Uganda. It is the second-deepest lake in Africa (900 meters deep) and also one of the few places in the country where it is considered safe to swim as it is bilharzia-free. The journey takes 6 to 7 hours and you will have your lunch en-route.

The landscape around the lake is made up of terraced hills protruding from the water’s edge. Bunyonyi means “place of many birds”, and as the name suggests, there is plenty of birdlife around the lake. You will take a boat cruise to the different islands to learn about their history and come back for lunch. Later in the afternoon, transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and have dinner and overnight at Broadbill Forest Camp.

Gorilla trekking and Batwa trail experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After an early breakfast, with your packed lunch, go for a briefing by the UWA rangers. You then enter the jungle to trek the fascinating endangered gorillas, the rare species that have almost-human characteristics. You will also have a chance to see other primates like the blue monkey, the red-tailed monkey, and other species of animals. Your guides will help you to catch a glimpse and provide you with a lot of information. You will come back with many memorable moments. Trekking the gorillas takes 6 to 7 hours.

Return for lunch and relaxation before heading for the Batwa trail experience in the evening. Afterward, return to your accommodation.

After an early breakfast, you will head to Lake Mburo National Park. The drive takes 3 to 4 hours with stopovers at tourist attractions. You will have lunch at your reserved lodge, after which you will go for an afternoon boat trip. The lake is rich with a variety of animals such as hippos and crocodiles and many bird species. In the evening, take a nature walk before you retire for dinner and overnight at Eagle's Nest.
