Day 1

Your safari guide will pick you up from your hotel in Entebbe or Kampala after an early breakfast. You will begin the scenic journey to southwestern Uganda, passing through lush countryside, traditional homesteads, rolling hills, and vibrant local markets. Along the way, you will stop at the Equator for photographs and an opportunity to witness the famous water experiment demonstrating the Coriolis effect.

After lunch en route, continue through the beautiful landscapes of western Uganda, characterized by terraced hillsides and tea plantations. As you approach Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, the scenery becomes increasingly dramatic with mist-covered forests and steep mountain slopes. Arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon, check in, and relax while enjoying views of the surrounding rainforest.

Gorilla Trekking Experience and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

After an early breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You will be assigned a gorilla family and receive important guidelines before entering the forest.

The gorilla trek can take anywhere from a few hours to most of the day, depending on the location of the gorilla family. As you hike through dense vegetation, your experienced guides will share insights about the forest ecosystem and its wildlife. The moment you encounter a mountain gorilla family is truly unforgettable. You will spend one hour observing these magnificent primates as they feed, play, groom, and interact in their natural habitat.
Following the trek, return to the starting point, receive your gorilla trekking certificate, and transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.

Afterward, depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda's most visited savannah park. The drive takes you through the picturesque Kigezi Highlands and rural communities before descending into the western rift valley.

Begin the day with an early morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, one of the park's prime wildlife-viewing areas. The open grasslands support large populations of Uganda kobs, making this an excellent area for predator sightings, including lions and leopards.

Return to the lodge for breakfast and relaxation before heading out for the afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This natural waterway connects Lake George and Lake Edward and hosts one of the highest concentrations of hippos in Africa.

During the cruise, you will encounter numerous hippos, Nile crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, and an impressive variety of water birds along the shoreline. The cruise provides exceptional opportunities for photography and wildlife observation from a unique perspective.

Rise early for a game drive on the northern bank of Murchison Falls National Park. This area is renowned for its rich wildlife populations and offers opportunities to see elephants, Rothschild's giraffes, buffaloes, hartebeests, oribis, waterbucks, and lions. Return to the lodge for breakfast and relaxation before proceeding for the afternoon boat cruise along the Victoria Nile. As the boat slowly approaches the base of the falls, you will witness large concentrations of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and numerous bird species along the riverbanks.

The thunderous roar, mist, and rainbows created by the falls provide unforgettable photographic opportunities.

Following the excursion, begin your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe. Enjoy lunch en route and reflect on the incredible experiences of the past week, from close encounters with mountain gorillas and savannah wildlife to scenic lakes and powerful waterfalls.
