Transfer to Southwestern Uganda – Journey into the Land of Giants

Your adventure begins with an early morning pickup from Kampala or Entebbe by your PrideMark Safaris guide, followed by a long but scenic drive toward southwestern Uganda. The journey takes you through rolling countryside, tea plantations, roadside markets, and the dramatic hills that define this region often referred to as the “Switzerland of Africa.” As you continue deeper into the highlands, the air becomes cooler and the landscape more mountainous, signaling your arrival into Uganda’s premier primate territories. You will be heading toward either Bwindi Impenetrable National Park or the Mgahinga region depending on gorilla permit allocation and tracking logistics. Upon arrival at your lodge, you are welcomed with warm hospitality and breathtaking views of dense rainforest or volcanic peaks. The evening is spent relaxing, enjoying dinner, and preparing mentally for the life-changing encounters ahead.

Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

After an early breakfast, you proceed to the park headquarters for a detailed briefing before entering the ancient rainforest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Led by experienced rangers, you begin your trek into one of the most biologically diverse forests in the world, home to endangered mountain gorillas. The trek may last several hours depending on the movement of the gorilla family, but every step through the thick jungle builds anticipation and excitement. When you finally encounter the gorillas, you are granted a magical one-hour observation period, watching them feed, interact, and care for each other in their natural habitat. It is a deeply emotional and humbling experience that often leaves travelers in awe. After the trek, you return to your lodge for relaxation, reflection, and a peaceful evening surrounded by the sounds of the forest.

Golden Monkey Tracking & Return Journey

On your final day, you travel toward the volcanic slopes of Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, part of the Virunga mountain range, for an exciting golden monkey tracking experience. These rare and playful primates are found in bamboo forests and are known for their fast movement and vibrant golden-orange fur. Walking through the misty volcanic landscapes, you enjoy a lighter and more energetic trek compared to gorilla tracking, offering excellent photography opportunities and close-up encounters with these endangered monkeys. The scenery is equally breathtaking, with views of volcanic peaks and lush vegetation creating a dramatic backdrop. After the tracking experience, you begin your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe, passing once again through Uganda’s beautiful highlands, arriving in the evening with unforgettable memories of both gorillas and golden monkeys, concluding your adventure with PrideMark Safaris Uganda.
