Journey to Murchison Falls, hike the Mighty Top of the Falls

Journey to Murchison Falls, hike the Mighty Top of the Falls

Estimated drive time: 5–6 hours

Leave Entebbe behind and journey north through Uganda's countryside towards Murchison Falls National Park. As you travel, you'll pass vibrant trading centers, farms, and rural communities before entering Uganda's largest and oldest national park. Upon arrival, head to the famous Top of the Falls, where the world's longest river performs one of its most dramatic spectacles.

Standing beside the falls, you'll watch the mighty Nile squeeze through a narrow 7-meter gorge before plunging violently into the gorge below. The thunderous roar, cooling mist, and breathtaking views create a truly unforgettable introduction to the park. Afterwards, continue to your lodge and settle in for the evening surrounded by the sights and sounds of the African wilderness.

Murchison Falls is considered one of the most powerful waterfalls in the world and has captivated explorers and travelers for generations, including Sir Samuel Baker, who named the falls in 1864.

Savannah Wildlife Safari & Nile Boat Adventure

Savannah Wildlife Safari & Nile Boat Adventure

Estimated game drive: 3–4 hours | Boat cruise: 2–3 hours

Rise early and head out onto the northern plains of Murchison Falls National Park, where some of Uganda's best wildlife viewing awaits. As the morning light spreads across the savannah, you'll search for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, antelopes, and predators that roam these vast grasslands.

In the afternoon, board a boat and cruise upstream along the Nile toward the base of Murchison Falls. This is one of the most rewarding wildlife experiences in Uganda. Hippos crowd the riverbanks, crocodiles bask in the sun, and elephants often emerge from the bush to drink. As you approach the falls, you'll witness the immense force of the Nile from water level, providing a completely different perspective of this natural wonder.

The Nile supports an extraordinary ecosystem within the park, attracting wildlife throughout the year and creating some of East Africa's finest wildlife-viewing opportunities.

Day 3

Rhino Tracking at Ziwa & Return to Entebbe

Rhino Tracking at Ziwa & Return to Entebbe

Estimated rhino tracking: 1.5–2 hours | Drive to Entebbe: 4–5 hours

After breakfast, begin your journey south towards Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, the only place in Uganda where wild rhinos can be seen on foot. Accompanied by trained rangers, you'll venture into the sanctuary and track these magnificent animals through the bush, following signs and learning about the remarkable conservation efforts that have helped restore rhinos to Uganda.

Unlike traditional safari viewing from a vehicle, tracking rhinos on foot offers a more intimate and thrilling wildlife experience. Standing safely within viewing distance of these enormous animals creates a powerful appreciation for both their size and their importance to conservation.

Established in 2005, Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary has played a vital role in reintroducing rhinos to Uganda after they became extinct in the wild during the 1980s. Following your trek, continue to Entebbe for drop-off at your hotel or Entebbe International Airport.
