Day 1

Tarangire National Park from Zanzibar

Tarangire National Park from Zanzibar

Your journey begins early in Zanzibar, where you’ll be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the airport for your morning flight to Arusha. On arrival, your guide will welcome you and set off toward Tarangire National Park, a landscape of baobabs, golden grasslands, and the life-giving Tarangire River. Once inside the park, safari feeling begins instantly. Tarangire is one of northern Tanzania’s most rewarding parks, loved for its dramatic scenery, uncrowded feel, and superb wildlife encounters.

As the game drive unfolds, watch for elephant families moving through the bush, along with giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffalo, and elegant antelope. Lions and other predators may also appear as you explore different corners of the park. You’ll pause for a packed lunch in the wild, then continue with more game viewing into the late afternoon before driving to Karatu for your overnight stay at Acacia Farm, where a warm dinner and a comfortable room complete your first day in the bush.

The Ngorongoro Crater is a vast natural caldera with an incredible concentration of animals, making it one of the best places in Tanzania for dramatic sightings in a single day. Surrounded by towering crater walls and varied habitats, the setting feels grand, scenic, and constantly alive.

On the crater floor, you may encounter lions resting on the grass, buffalo grazing in open plains, zebras and wildebeest moving in loose herds, hippos in the water, and with luck even the rare black rhino. You’ll enjoy a packed lunch during your game drive, giving you more time to stay immersed in this remarkable landscape. As the afternoon light softens, you’ll continue exploring before returning to the Acacia Farm Lodge, carrying back the thrill of one of the world’s most iconic safari destinations.

On your final day, after breakfast, you’ll head out for a visit to a Maasai village, adding a cultural layer to your safari before returning to Zanzibar. This experience gives you the chance to step beyond wildlife viewing and connect with one of East Africa’s most recognizable pastoral communities. You’ll gain insight into Maasai traditions, daily life, and the values that have helped preserve their identity for generations.

After the visit, you’ll continue with your packed lunch in the vehicle as you drive back toward Arusha Airport for your flight to Zanzibar. The route back gives you time to reflect on the richness of the past three days, from elephant-filled landscapes to crater-floor drama and living culture.
