Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive to the Maasai Mara, enjoying scenic views of the Great Rift Valley along the way. Arrive in time for lunch and check in at your lodge or camp. In the afternoon, head out for your first game drive in the Mara, exploring the reserve in search of lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, and other wildlife. Return to your accommodation in the evening for dinner and overnight.

A full day dedicated to exploring the greatest wildlife reserve in Africa. Depart at dawn with packed picnic lunch boxes: the early morning hours are when predators are most active and the light is most spectacular for photography. The Mara is home to the Big Five and vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle. River crossings may still be possible near the Mara River — your guide will position you at the best vantage points. Look out for cheetah on the open plains, leopard resting in acacia trees, and enormous lion prides.

Day 3

Masai Mara to Nakuru

Rise early for one final dawn game drive in Masai Mara before breakfast. Check out and depart for Lake Nakuru National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its enormous flocks of flamingos that paint the lake pink. En route, enjoy sweeping views of the Great Rift Valley. Arrive Nakuru in the afternoon and head out for an evening game drive. The park is a sanctuary for both black and white rhino, as well as Rothschild's giraffe, lion, leopard, and waterbuck along the lakeshore.

After an early morning game drive and breakfast at Nakuru, depart for the short drive to Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake set in the floor of the Great Rift Valley. Arrive in time for an optional boat ride on the lake, drifting past pods of hippos and hundreds of water birds. In the afternoon, explore Hell's Gate National Park (At an extra cost) by bicycle or on foot, one of the few parks in Kenya where you can walk freely among wildlife. Dramatic gorges and towering cliffs make this a favourite for photographers.

After a final lakeside breakfast, depart Naivasha for the drive back to Nairobi. Stop at a curio market for last-minute souvenirs en route. Arrive in Nairobi in the early afternoon, giving you time to freshen up, explore Nairobi city centre, or visit the Giraffe Centre before your onward travel.
