Day 1

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Your guide will collect you from Arusha for a two-hour drive to Tarangire National Park, where you will spend the day marveling at the park's famous elephant family herds and ancient baobab trees. As the afternoon winds down, you will exit the park and head to the lively town of Mto wa Mbu to check in and sleep at Fig Tree Lodge and Camp, where you can dusty off with a swim in the pool.

Day 2-3

Serengeti National Park

On Days 2 and 3, you will make the long, scenic journey up the rift valley escarpment and descend onto the endless plains of the Serengeti National Park. You will spend these two days tracking lions, leopards, and vast herds of zebras and wildebeest across the savannah, sleeping both nights under canvas in basic public tents (typically Seronera Public Campsite) surrounded by the thrilling, wild sounds of the African night.

On Day 4, you will enjoy a final sunrise game drive in the Serengeti before slowly moving toward the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You will climb high into the misty volcanic highlands to pitch your tents at Simba Campsite directly on the crater rim, where you will enjoy a warm dinner and prepare for a chilly night at high altitude.

Day 5

Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha

On Day 5, you will descend 600 meters early in the morning into the spectacular caldera of the Ngorongoro Crater for a half-day game drive, offering your best opportunity to spot the rare black rhino and the rest of the Big Five. After a picnic lunch by the hippo pool, you will ascend the crater walls and drive back to Arusha, heading directly to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) for your departure flight.
