Day 1
Nairobi - Lake Bogoria
Nairobi - Lake Bogoria
Depart Nairobi early for the roughly 3–4 hour drive into the Great Rift Valley, passing Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru en route to Lake Bogoria. Arrive in time for lunch, then head out for an afternoon game drive along the lake’s shoreline. Lake Bogoria National Reserve is famed for its dense flocks of lesser flamingos and its dramatic geothermal geysers and hot springs bubbling along the western shore — a striking contrast against the deep blue, alkaline lake. The reserve is also one of the best places in Kenya to spot greater kudu. Check in to your lodge overlooking the lake and unwind with a sundowner as the flamingos settle in for the night.

Lake Baringo - Boat ride & Village visit
Lake Baringo - Boat ride & Village visit
After breakfast, take the short 45-minute transfer from Bogoria to Lake Baringo — a striking freshwater lake ringed by rugged hills, a world away from Bogoria's alkaline shores. Board a wooden boat for a morning ride across the lake, gliding past pods of hippos and basking Nile crocodiles while your guide points out fish eagles, kingfishers, and herons among the more than 470 bird species recorded here, making it one of Kenya's premier birding destinations. Stop by a Njemps fishing village to see traditional balsa-wood canoes and learn about the community's centuries-old relationship with the lake. In the afternoon, visit Ruko Community Conservancy, home to a growing population of Rothschild's giraffes reintroduced to the area, including some translocated by barge across the lake itself. Return to the lodge for a relaxed evening with a lakeside campfire dinner under the stars.
