Drive to Lake Langano & Camping Experience

After breakfast, depart Addis Ababa and drive south through the scenic Ethiopian Rift Valley, passing traditional villages, volcanic landscapes, and picturesque lakes. After approximately three to four hours, arrive at the beautiful shores of Lake Langano, one of Ethiopia's few freshwater lakes where swimming is considered safe. Upon arrival, your camping crew will help set up camp while you relax beside the lake or enjoy a refreshing swim.

Spend the afternoon exploring the peaceful lakeshore, watching colorful birdlife, or simply relaxing beneath the acacia trees. As evening falls, gather around the campfire and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the Rift Valley beneath a sky filled with countless stars before settling into your comfortable tent for the night.

Abijata-Shalla National Park Exploration

After breakfast, enjoy a full-day excursion to Abijata-Shalla National Park, one of Ethiopia's most important birdwatching destinations. The park is home to two contrasting Rift Valley lakes—Lake Abijata, famous for its seasonal flocks of flamingos, and the deep volcanic Lake Shalla, surrounded by dramatic cliffs and breathtaking viewpoints.

Accompanied by your guide, explore the park while searching for greater flamingos, pelicans, storks, ostriches, gazelles, warthogs, and numerous other bird species that thrive in this unique ecosystem. Enjoy spectacular panoramic views across the Great Rift Valley before returning to Lake Langano for another relaxing evening around the campfire, surrounded by nature and the tranquil sounds of the wilderness.

Return to Addis Ababa

Wake up to the peaceful sounds of nature and enjoy a relaxing morning beside Lake Langano before packing up camp. Take one final opportunity to enjoy the beautiful surroundings or photograph the lakeshore before beginning the drive back to Addis Ababa through the scenic Rift Valley.

Arrive in the capital during the afternoon. Depending on your departure schedule, you may have time for last-minute shopping or relaxation before your transfer to Addis Ababa Bole International Airport. Your short but memorable camping adventure through Ethiopia's beautiful Rift Valley comes to an end, leaving you with unforgettable memories of stunning lakes, abundant birdlife, and nights spent beneath Africa's spectacular skies.
