Wake near midnight for warm beverages and light snacks before setting out by headlamp. Ascend the moonlit scree slopes toward Stella Point on the crater rim. Watch a magnificent sunrise over Mawenzi Peak as you reach the rim, then push forward to Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters—the summit of Africa. Celebrate with your guides and capture photos at the peak. Descend back to Barafu Camp for a hot lunch and brief rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp in the upper forest zone.
