Chimpanzee Trekking & Bigodi Swamp Walk

Wake to the forest chorus and enjoy an early breakfast before heading to Kanyanchu Park Headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. Divide into groups of eight and enter the lush rainforest in search of habituated chimpanzee troops. Listen for their pant-hooting calls echoing through the canopy. Upon locating them, spend one magical hour observing their playful antics—grooming, feeding, and swinging effortlessly through the trees. Return to the starting point for a packed lunch. In the afternoon, embark on a guided swamp walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary. This community-run initiative offers excellent birdwatching—spot the great blue turaco, kingfishers, and weaver birds. Encounter other primates like red colobus, black-and-white colobus, and grey-cheeked mangabeys. Learn about local conservation efforts and traditional uses of swamp plants.
