Arriving you'll be met and transferred to your luxury hotel in Arusha. Spend the rest of the day settling in and relaxing after your flight. In the late afternoon, meet your mountain guide for a pre-climb briefing covering the route, daily itinerary, and safety procedures. A thorough gear check will also be carried out to ensure you have everything needed for a safe and successful summit attempt. Overnight at your hotel in Arusha.

Day 2
Lemosho Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp

After breakfast, transfer from your hotel to Lemosho Gate (2,100m) to complete park registration. Begin your trek through lush montane rainforest, keeping an eye out for colobus monkeys and forest birdlife along the trail. The 6km hike takes approximately 3-4 hours, gaining 720m in elevation as you ascend to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,820m), meaning 'Big Tree' in Swahili. Enjoy lunch en route or at camp, followed by dinner and your first night camping on the mountain.

Day 3
Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp

After breakfast at Mti Mkubwa Camp, continue your trek as the forest gives way to open moorland, offering your first clear views of Kilimanjaro's summit. The 8km hike takes approximately 5-6 hours, gaining 685m in elevation as you climb to Shira 1 Camp (3,505m), set on the edge of the Shira Plateau. Enjoy a packed lunch along the trail, taking in the changing scenery and vegetation. Arrive at camp in time to rest and acclimatize before dinner and overnight.
Day 4
Shira 1 to Shira 2 Camp

After breakfast, set out across the vast Shira Plateau, a relatively gentle trek that aids acclimatization while offering sweeping views of Kilimanjaro's Kibo peak and the surrounding plains. The 7km hike takes approximately 3-4 hours, gaining 345m in elevation as you reach Shira 2 Camp (3,850m). With a shorter hiking day, enjoy extra time to rest, hydrate, and take in the high-altitude scenery. A short acclimatization walk may be available before dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 5
Shira 2 to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower

After breakfast, begin the trek towards Lava Tower (4,630m), a dramatic volcanic rock formation and the highest point reached today. This "climb high, sleep low" day is key for acclimatization, helping your body adjust to the altitude ahead. Enjoy a packed lunch near the tower before descending through the surreal Senecio forest into the Barranco Valley. The 10km route takes approximately 6-8 hours, with a net descent to Barranco Camp (3,960m), set beneath the dramatic Barranco Wall. Dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 6

After breakfast, tackle the Barranco Wall, a steep but short scramble that looks more intimidating than it is, rewarding climbers with spectacular views over the valley below. From the top, continue across a series of ridges and valleys towards Karanga Camp. The 5km route takes approximately 4-5 hours, gaining 75m in elevation. Though a shorter hiking day, it allows valuable time to rest and acclimatize before the summit push ahead. Enjoy lunch en route, followed by dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 7
Karanga to Barafu Camp

After breakfast, begin a relatively short trek across rocky terrain towards Barafu Camp, your base for the summit push. The 4km route takes approximately 3-4 hours, gaining 605m in elevation, arriving at Barafu (4,640m) in the early afternoon. Use the remaining daylight to rest, hydrate, and prepare your gear for the night ahead. Enjoy an early dinner followed by a few hours of sleep, as you'll be woken shortly after midnight to begin your final ascent towards Uhuru Peak.
Day 8
Barafu to Uhuru Peak and Mweka Camp

Shortly after midnight, begin the summit push from Barafu Camp, climbing steadily through the darkness by headlamp. Reach Stella Point as the sun rises, then continue along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. Celebrate your achievement before beginning the long descent back to Barafu for a rest and late breakfast. Continue descending through changing landscapes to Mweka Camp (3,100m), a total trekking day of around 10-14 hours. Enjoy a well-earned dinner and overnight at camp.

Day 9
Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
After a final breakfast at Mweka Camp, continue your descent through the lush rainforest towards Mweka Gate (1,640m), where you'll receive your summit certificate. The 10km route takes approximately 3-4 hours, with a steep drop in elevation as you leave the mountain behind. From the gate, transfer back to Arusha to end tour.
