Day 1

Your day begins with a morning pickup from your hotel in Arusha or Moshi and a scenic drive to Marangu Gate. After registration and meeting your guide, step beneath the cool canopy of Kilimanjaro's rainforest and begin your walk into the mountain. With every step the outside world fades away as birds call from the trees and playful black-and-white colobus monkeys move through the branches. The trail climbs gently through the forest giving you time to breathe settle into the rhythm of the mountain and enjoy the beauty around you. After several hours you'll reach Mandara Hut where you'll rest and enjoy your packed lunch. If time and energy allow take a short walk toward Maundi Crater for beautiful views. Then begin your descent through the rainforest to Marangu Gate returning to Arusha or Moshi with tired legs a full heart and the feeling that you've truly experienced Kilimanjaro.
